	EOnline: Live From Red Carpet MTV’s Video Music Awards are going to be hot. Literally. It feels like 100 degrees on the red carpet here on the Paramount lot in Hollywood. But the hot topic for the day: Britney Spears! Will she walk the carpet? Is she going to perform? Or, perhaps, is she going to open the show atop an elephant? Yes, there is an elephant being hosed down outside the awards. And remember, therewas an elephant in Spears and host Russell Brand’s promo spots for the show, as in “the elephant in the room.” The red carpet is now rolling. Read on for all the highlights…. It’s 3:10 p.m. and the first “celebrities” just walked onto the carpet. But who are they? Um, cast members from Real World Hollywood: Britney, Joey, Will and NIck. I wouldn’t usually wanna talk to them, but it’s getting a bit boring on the carpet, so why not? Maybe they’ve seen the real Britney… Well, they haven’t. Britney (the Real World one) wants Spears to perform. “I love Britney,” Britney says. “I love her music. I love everything about her.” Nick, on the otherhand, thinks Kanye West will be quite upset if Spears performs because she’ll definitely take the focus away from his closing show number. “Kanye will cry like a girl,” Nick said. The carpet is hardly rockin’ but there’s Mel B. She’s in a short little sparkly dress and matching killer heels. Looks like she ’s still got her Dancing with the Stars body. 	Conservatorship Hearing Britney Spears’ days of media-deluged court appearances may be behind her, but it’s not quite case closed for the pop star. Attorneys for the singer are currently meeting in the chambers of Court Commissioner Reva Goetz at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse to discuss either extending or terminating her father’s current conservatorship over her estate. While neither Spears nor papa Jamie are present for the session, her brother Bryan Spears, a cotrustee of Britney’s assets, is in the courtroom. As yet, there’s no word on the outcome of today’s closed-door hearing, though sources told E! News just yesterday that despite rumors the 26-year-old could regain control of her estate after today, the conservatorship is unlikely to be dissolved until the end of the year, with Goetz expected to extend the order. Attorneys for Jamie Spears, largely if not wholly credited with his daughter’s personal and professional resuscitation, are expected to request the extension to last through later this fall. Also on the docket for today’s hearing is the Spears family’s temporary restraining order over Sam Lutfi. Sources told E! News this week that the Spears patriarch was unlikely to attempt to make the order against Lutfi permanent—not that he is welcome in the Spears family’s life. Should Jamie’s conservatorship get extended, the restraining order would be redundant since he, as acting conservator, is already well within his power—restraining order or not—to determine who gets one-on-one time with Britney. 	Britney, Mariah and Rihanna To Compete For MTV Award Britney Spears will fight it out with Rihanna and Mariah Carey at this year’s (08) MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), after they were nominated for Best Female Video. Spears’ Piece of Me promo is named alongside Carey’s Touch My Body, Rihanna’s Take A Bow, Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl, and Jordin Sparks’ No Air duet with Chris Brown. Meanwhile, in the Best Male Video category, rap hits Low by Flo Rida, Lollipop by Lil Wayne and T.I.’s No Matter What will compete against tracks by R+B stars Chris Brown and Usher, whose songs With You and Love In This Club respectively, are also in the running for the award. The Best Male and Female Video nominees were announced on Friday (25Jul08), and the full list of VMA nominees is to be unveiled in the coming weeks. The 25th VMAs is due to take place at the Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood on 7 September (08) and will be hosted by British comedian Russell Brand. 	Maddie Briann Since giving birth on June 19 to baby girl Maddie Briann Aldridge, Jamie Lynn Spears has taken to doing what any good first time mom would do - making sure her brand new daughter has everything she needs. And, in an exclusive interview and photoshoot, the younger sister of Britney Spears tells OK! that being away from the shining lights of Hollywood is making it all easier to learn the ins and outs of first-time motherhood. “Around here, everyone has the same focus,” Jamie Lynn tells OK!. “The focus is family, and that’s a good way to live.” The 17-year-old actress opens up to OK! about everything - from taking parenting classes to life inside the new home she shares with Maddie and boyfriend Casey Aldridge, to her first experience with labor pains. “They’d told me it would be an eight- to 12-hour labor, and I was ready to have the baby in three to four hours,” Jamie Lynn tells OK!. “I had a perfect pregnancy and a perfect delivery. I was very blessed.” While the former Zoey 101 star and her fiancé have not yet set a date for their wedding, the couple remains closer than ever. Jamie Lynn, who tells OK! that while her labor was induced, she gave birth naturally and without complications, says that Casey was the one person she wanted in the delivery room with her. “Once I got in there, my doctor was just so calm and so good it was not bad at all,” she says. “I was just talking to Casey. And you know what’s so weird? I was asking him if he was okay. He was like, ‘Yeah.’ We were both so excited.” A baby nursery is set up for little Maddie at the other end of the house, but for now her proud parents like having her next to them at night, so she sleeps in a bassinet in the same room as Jamie Lynn and Casey. “She is very good,” says Jamie Lynn. “She’ll feed every two or three hours. When she wakes up in the middle of the night, I’ll feed her and she goes right back to sleep. There’s no screaming and crying.” The proud mama continues, “We get up in the morning, and she gets her little bath. Then I get my bath. We have a routine, and I love routines. 	Change Made in Britney Visitation Status Things are finally looking up for Britney Spears! It was just announced that there has been a change in her visitation status with her two young sons. While it has yet to be made public what exactly that change is, insiders tell OK! that the pop star went into court today to ask for once-weekly overnight visits with the boys, and it’s believed she may have gotten her wish granted. When she left the court after meeting with commissioner Scott Gordon and lawyers for her and ex-husband Kevin Federline, Brit’s eyes appeared to be bloodshot, as if she’d been crying. However, when asked if she was happy, she replied, “yes,” so hopefully those were tears of joy. A rep for the court confirmed that, while it was not strictly considered as testimony, Gordon did ask Britney a number of questions during their closed-door hearing. Also speaking to the court today was Lisa Hacker, the court-appointed parenting coach for the pop star. As for her demeanor in the courtroom today, the court spokesperson described Britney as being “very businesslike,” and confirmed that there were no words of any kind exchanged between Brit and K-Fed. It was also confirmed after the hearing that Brit’s most-recent attorney, Stacy Phillips, “has exited the case,” and that her one-time lawyer, Laura Wasser, has returned to represent the singer. The next hearing date is scheduled for July 15, and the court confirms that a trial date is still tentatively set for August, though the spokesperson did say that this will continue, “for as long as it takes to resolve this case.” Source: OK Magazine No Reply Mahyar 06/24/08
