If you’ve been tuning into “The Glee Project” this season, then you probably already know that Nellie Veitenheimer isn’t the most eloquent when it comes to expressing herself. But then again, not many 19-year-olds are.

This week’s “Glee Project” tested the “Glee” hopefuls’ theatricality by challenging them to step into the iconic shoes — or in Shanna’s case, Lady Gaga’s meat dress — of superstars, past and present. Tomboy Nellie underwent a head-to-toe Britney Spears transformation, but she just wasn’t bringing “Baby One More Time” flirtiness that Ryan Murphy and the mentors wanted.

HuffPost TV chatted with the “Glee Project” castoff — who recently moved to Los Angeles — about her elimination, becoming Britney Spears and the bromance between Blake and Michael.

What was the first thought that popped into your head when they told you that you were going to be Britney Spears?

I about died! The first thing I thought of was her sexiest, most provocative outfit and I was like, “WHY?” I was truly terrified that I was going to be half-naked with a snake around my neck. But the outfit I ended up getting wasn’t that bad at all. It ended up being really fun, but initially, all I could imagine was the newer Britney and all of her provocative outfits. Thankfully, I got the younger, cuter, more innocent Britney.

After they announced that you were going to be Britney, the first thing I thought of was “I’m a Slave 4 U” Britney.

I know! That’s what everyone was wondering too! I’m so happy that they went with school girl Britney.

That being said, I think everyone can identify with a Britney. I’d like to think that I’m “Sometimes” Britney, while Ryan [Murphy] is definitely “Toxic” Britney and Zach [Woodlee] is “Oops!…I Did It Again” Britney. Which Britney do you think you are?

[Laughs.] That’s amazing! You know what? I’ve never been a fan, and I’ve never been a hater. I’m just kind of indifferent when it comes to Britney. But I didn’t mind being “Baby One More Time” Britney.

If you could have been any other icon, who would you have chosen?

It would have been more fun to play a rocker chick, but the reason that I didn’t have an answer for Ryan is because I ended up embracing Britney. She was really fun to play.

Britney Spears says if she wasn’t already engaged for the coming TV season, she’d happily have entertained an “American Idol” judging spot.

“I would have loved that,” the music superstar tells Zap2it as she prepares to debut as a judge for Season 2 of FOX’s “The X Factor” starting Wednesday, Sept. 12. Just as “Idol” is in for another big overhaul, having lost Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez in the past week, the “X Factor” judging panel will be half-new … with Spears and Demi Lovato joining series mentor Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

“I feel like it brings a whole new energy to the show, definitely,” reasons Spears, who already has been involved in contestant auditions for several weeks. “Nicole [Scherzinger] and Paula [Abdul] were really great, but to have such a dramatic change, I’ll bet this even made Simon and L.A. nervous.

“That was what they had been used to, then these two new girls come in. I don’t know how it’ll be perceived, but it’s been fun for us. I’ve been having a blast.”

Spears empathizes with “X Factor” contenders, since the competition “Star Search” was part of her own career beginnings. “I would be extremely nervous, probably, if I’d really never done anything before and it was my first time to perform in front of 4,000 people,” she reflects of watching auditions in such cities as San Francisco and Providence (R.I.). “I’m sure it’s pretty nerve-racking.”

As for herself, the artist behind such hits as ” … Baby One More Time,” “Oops! … I Did It Again,” “(You Drive Me) Crazy” and “Gimme More” certainly is no stranger to being in the spotlight. Her “X-Factor” stint is certain to amp that up, and she admits, “I hope I’m ready. I don’t really know what to expect at this point, so I’m just taking it one day at a time.”

Yesterday, Fox announced that pop superstar Britney Spears would be joining their reality competition The X-Factor as a judge and that Glee would follow X-Factor‘s results show on Thursdays. Now comes even more exciting Britney/Glee news: EW has exclusively learned that Glee is planning a second Britney Spears tribute for the fall!

Set to be the second episode of the series’ fourth season, this hour homage to Brit Brit will feature eight of her songs but won’t focus on the character of Brittany (Heather Morris) as the first tribute did (Spears is not scheduled to appear in the episode as of now but producers are hoping to work out a deal). The reason for the Spears hour is because the network is so excited about the pairing of a Spears/X-Factor with Glee on Thursday nights. It also certainly doesn’t hurt that the original Britney tribute, which aired early in the second season, is still one of Glee’s highest-rated episode to date.

The big reveal is but an hour away as executives and talent at Fox gather backstage at New York’s Beacon Theater. Chief among them: X Factor boss Simon Cowell who, The Hollywood Reporter hears, will escort new judge Britney Spears to the stage.

The official announcement will finally quiet months of rumors following the season 1 ouster of judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. As THR first reported, teen star Demi Lovato is expected to round out the panel. The new judges are scheduled to hold a short briefing at 4 p.m. EST.

During a conference call this morning, Fox executives stressed the need to make the series more “entertaining” and “exciting,” something they believe a new jolt of talent at the judges’ table can do.

The network’s new programming slate includes projects from Kevin Williamson and Mindy Kaling and such stars as Kevin Bacon, Becki Newton and Jordana Spiro.

EXCLUSIVE: We’ve learned that singer/songwriter/actress Demi Lovato’s deal was done late last night. So Fox will introduce her and already locked-in Britney Spears as its new judges for Simon Cowell’s fall talent show The X Factor at today’s upfront in NYC. Unlike last year when the network went along with Cowell’s low-profile judges’ choices, this fall the show is stressing its celebrity quotient in an unabashed bid to grab younger demographics.

Spears was first to close her deal in April to join Cowell on the judging panel in Season 2 following a month of talks. Deadlline was first to report that the pop star received a $10 million offer to join Fox’s singing competition and finally signed up for even more than that – closer to $15 million.

That means Spears exceeded the $12 million which Jennifer Lopez received on American Idol last season. Cowell and Fox had focused on getting Spears on board before moving to fill the other vacant judge chair on the show. The names most mentioned for that spot were Lovato and Miley Cyrus. An insider told Deadline that Cyrus decided she didn’t want the gig so a full-court press ensued to get Lovato’s deal done over the weekend.

The recruitment of both singers now successfully replaces first-season X Factor judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Cowell has been mum about his courtship of Lovato but effusive in his public praise for Spears who was the bigger ‘get’ for his show: “I’m fascinated by Britney,” he said during a radio interview with Billy Bush in February.

“The fact that she’s one of the most talked about — not just pop stars but people — in the world today, means that you’ve got this star power. This girl has resilience. I would think that if she’s managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, [X Factor would be] a walk in the park. I would be fascinated to hear what she has to say. She’s still hot, she’s still having hit records and she’s still controversial. There’s a reason for that.”
